The Beard Begins

Hello, one and all, and thank you for joining me on this special journey.

I've not done any work on my other blog (Tales of a Bearded Man) for some time. There wasn't any reason in particular that I stopped writing. I guess I just fell away. The longer I stayed away from it, the harder it was to get back into the swing of things. There is a big part of me that feels bad for not keeping up with my writing, so I'm glad to have an opportunity to get back into it.

The last place I left off was one where I was suffering from severe depression. It's still something that rears its ugly head from time to time, but since then, I've managed to get a handle on things. That's in no small part thanks to my decision to get back into education and follow my passion: astrophysics.

Today marks the end of the summer school that I attended at the University of Strathclyde. This was my second time doing their summer school, as I failed the mathematics class the first time around. This afternoon, I completed the final maths assessment and submitted it for grading, so in just one short week, I will know whether I have secured my spot in their physics degree. Coming off the back of completing the Access to STEM course at college, and passing with flying colours, I'm quite confident that I've passed the summer school this time.

I'm returning to higher education as a mature student, so I thought it would be fun to document the experience. As with my previous blog, it'll mainly be for my own benefit. I find that writing about things in my life helps to put things into perspective, and it gives me something to look back on and reflect. So, with all of that in mind, there's just one thing left to say at the beginning of this adventure:
